But, as always, Julia has her children by her side — and they each have their plates full this season as well, to say the least. Batsheva is fresh off her divorce and enjoying single life in the city with her girls, while Miriam navigates her first committed relationship with a woman. Shlomo offers some much-needed support to Aron, who’s straddling two worlds: modern Orthodox Judaism and the ultra-Orthodox world of yeshiva education. Robert, always Julia’s right hand, finds himself in a stable, committed relationship, while his work life is anything but. Ahead, read on for more scoop about the extended Haart brood and what to expect whenMy Unorthodox Life returns on Dec. 2.
Julia Haart
After escaping her ultra-Orthodox Jewish community eight years ago, Julia Haart rebuilt her life in New York City from the ground up, eventually becoming the CEO of top global modeling agency Elite World Group and serving as co-owner with husband Silvio Scaglia. But now, during her contentious divorce from Silvio, she must fight yet another uphill battle if she wants to retain control of the business she helped build.
At home, she struggles to reconnect with her daughter Batsheva while also guiding her daughter Miriam in her first queer relationship. Julia also tries to convince her son Aron that he needs a secular education, despite his insistence on transferring to an Orthodox yeshiva school.
In the midst of her own fight for freedom, she remains dedicated to supporting other oppressed women and is working on a new venture to help advocate for their safety.

Batsheva Haart
Following her divorce, the eldest Haart daughter is taking NYC by storm — dating around for the first time, having fun with her friends, working as a full-time content creator and adjusting to living alone in the home she once shared with ex-husband Ben. While her mom might long for the days when the two were closer, Batsheva is putting up some needed boundaries, choosing to tackle life head-on on her own as a newly single woman.

Miriam Haart
This season, the Stanford student is taking time off of school while she weighs her next career move. She’s embracing her queerness and coming to terms with how her ultra-Orthodox past shaped her feelings about sexuality. She’s found her match in Nathalie, an international student and tennis player from Sweden.
Now, she faces some tough decisions: Continue her studies at Stanford, or jump into a golden opportunity closer to home? And with Nathalie’s impending graduation and fraught visa status, what lengths will Miriam go to to keep her girlfriend in her life?

Shlomo Haart
Perhaps the most introverted of the Haart brood, this season, Shlomo is focused on supporting his mother during this difficult period of her life, stepping in wherever he can to help lighten her load. He’s also uniquely equipped to help with the Aron situation: Having attended a yeshiva himself, Shlomo has firsthand knowledge of the experience and wants to help his brother understand what transferring to a yeshiva would entail. He offers to help Aron and Julia communicate, acting as a peacemaker in what has become an ongoing point of contention between the two. But life isn’t only about family for Shlomo — with a new crush in the picture, Shlomo is getting serious about finding his person. Which you could say means putting his, uh, back into it.

Robert Brotherton
As the COO of EWG, Robert is Julia’s second in command in and out of the office. And this season, with a new vacation home in Connecticut, a happy, stable relationship and a new physique, he’s feeling himself. Still, Robert and his partner, Ra’ed, don’t exactly see eye to eye when it comes to the nature of their monogamous relationship. While Ra’ed is comfortable being open, Robert prefers to keep their relationship closed.
The Texas native is trying to step out of his comfort zone in so many facets of his life — and with the fate of EWG hanging in the balance, it looks like that might include his career, too.

Ra’ed Saade
A new addition to the crew this season, Ra’ed is Robert’s new beau. After meeting in college at Syracuse University, the two kept in touch and then reconnected at the start of the pandemic. They’ve been inseparable ever since, taking care to work through their different philosophies on monogamy while planning for a future together. And it isn’t just Robert who loves Ra’ed — he’s become a staple at the Haarts’ dinner table, always ready with a quippy one-liner or his services as the ultimate wingman. Ever the supportive partner, Ra’ed encourages Robert to pursue his lifelong dream. But his unemployed status means the pressure is on to find a job that can support them while Robert figures out his next move.

Nathalie Ulander
Nathalie and Miriam met on a dating app and have been together for over a year. But, as an international student from Sweden living on a student visa, she’ll need to acquire a work visa if she wants to stay in the city postgrad. With her future unknown, Nathalie leans on Miriam and Julia for help. If she can’t find herself a visa-sponsoring position, what will become of the budding couple?
