US couple's trip to Brazil turns into 4-month stay after wife gives birth at 28 weeks
A Minnesota couple who traveled to Brazil in February for a two-week vacation have now spent nearly four months there after the wife went into premature labor, delivering their son at 28 weeks. Chris and Cheri Phillips, of Cambridge, arrived on Feb. 22 in Brazil, where they planned to celebrate the eighth birthday of Chris's daughter from a previous relationship, who lives full-time with her mother in Brazil. "It started off that I just kind of had a backache ... I thought I just need to go lie down and I'll feel better in the morning," said Cheri Phillips.

Scorching heat at Trump rally in Las Vegas sends 6 to hospital, fire department says
Six people were taken to a hospital, while another two dozen received medical attention on site at former President Donald Trump's rally in Las Vegas on Sunday amid extreme heat, the Clark County Fire Department said. Temperatures on Sunday topped 100 degrees and the National Weather Service issued an excessive heat watch. Prior to the rally at Sunset Park in Las Vegas the Trump campaign stressed its efforts to implement "comfort measures" to ensure the safety of rally goers who usually spend hours waiting in line just to get into Trump rallies and additional hours waiting for Trump to take the stage -- including providing water bottles, allowing small umbrellas into the rally, setting up tents and misting stations, and deploying "ample" medical staff in case of emergencies.

"Israel has accepted this proposal and the Security Council has an opportunity to speak with one voice and call on Hamas to do the same," the statement read.

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Sam Brown in Nevada's Republican Senate primary on his social media platform Sunday night, after months of praising multiple candidates running in the race. "Sam Brown is a FEARLESS AMERICAN PATRIOT, a Purple Heart Recipient, who has proven he has the 'PURE GRIT and COURAGE to take on our Enemies, both Foreign and Domestic," Trump wrote on his social media platform Sunday evening. Los Angeles leader outraged after footage shows officers 'dump' alleged homeless man in front of office
The Los Angeles City Council president is demanding answers after security cameras captured two Burbank Police officers allegedly dropping off a homeless man near his office and driving away as he lay on the ground this week. Councilman Paul Krekorian released the video that showed the two uniformed officers pull up to the street in North Hollywood on June 6, get the unidentified man out of their marked vehicle in handcuffs, uncuffing him and then driving off as he appeared to get on the ground on all fours. Krekorian said his office staffers were able to find the man and get him medical care after they were given the security footage, he said.

An Oklahoma teen and her family are speaking out after the 19-year-old was attacked by a shark last month in Galveston, Texas. Damiana Humphrey, 19, told "Good Morning America" she was wading in the water about waist-deep when a 4 to 5-foot shark latched onto her hand. Humphrey's father, Troy, also spoke to "GMA."

3 swimmers attacked by sharks off Florida Panhandle
Three swimmers, including two teens, were attacked by sharks in two separate incidents while they were at beaches in Walton County, Florida, on Friday, the authorities said. A 45-year-old woman was swimming just past a sandbar with her husband at Watersound Beach when she was bitten by a shark around 1:20 p.m., South Walton Fire District Chief Ryan Crawford told reporters. One victim was bitten by a shark and sustained "significant injuries," and was flown to Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola Hospital in critical condition, Crawford said.

Cobalt Sovereign, 17, told ABC News they were using the men's bathroom around 2:30 p.m. local time when a male student started peering over the stall while they were using the facility. In the hallway, Sovereign said they were followed by the student and two others.
